Atlanta Artist and His Walmart Paintings Make Headlines

Walm-art
Most of us go to places like Walmart for groceries and booze, and so does Brendan O’Connell. To him though, not only are Walmart branches supermarkets, they’re also art studios.
O’Connell, A Tucker Native, left for Paris after graduating in 1990. It is there where he did portraits of tourists before returning stateside after a few years. Upon coming back, he noticed that Walmart had become quite the sensation. He would enter the department store to preserve in painting the colorful details therein, and got in trouble for it pretty much every time.
Eventually though, Walmart stopped kicking him out after realizing his art did not paint (pardon the pun) the retail corporation in a negative light at all. O’Connell has been practicing his craft there since.
