Atlanta Public School’s “Day One” Campaign a Success

The Atlanta Public School’s “Day One: Be There” campaign helped increase first day attendance by 1,647 students compared to last year. Dr. Meria Carstarphen, the district’s new superintendent who pushed the Day One campaign as soon as she started early in July, said, “We have over 5,000 students who typically miss the first day of school.” The campaign included everything from canvassing neighborhoods with flyers to a back-to-school immunization drive.
