Underground Atlanta to be Rejuvinated

A South Carolina development company is ready to purchase Underground Atlanta for $25.8 million. They plan to revitalize the once-thriving area by erecting apartments and a supermarket, and renovating the underground mall to attract more people. Many of the former nightclubs and restaurants are now empty, and the mall has gotten a reputation as a less-than-desirable destination. The development company thinks the time is right, considering the increased interest in Downtown as a place to live, thanks to large projects like the Beltline and Ponce City Market, among others.
