Unsold Airport Food Helps Feed the Hungry in Atlanta

Hartsfield Jackson International Airport, the world’s busiest airport, is working nonstop. But this time it’s giving back to the community. HMSHost, which have dozens of kiosks and restaurants at the Atlanta airport, donates about a ton of unsold food every week to the Salvation Army. Last year, HMS Host donated in Atlanta 20,000 food items and more than 3 million at airports nationwide. A Salvation Army van goes through security and parks on the tarmac to pick up hundreds of food items every other day.
