Well Known Airport Mural Covered

The well known “Spirit of Atlanta” mural that greeted passengers upon their arrival to Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport for 15 years has been covered up by an advertisement for Porsche. The car company recently moved their North American headquarters near the airport. The ad will cover the mural until mid-June, and then the plan is for a digital screen to be installed.

The “Spirit of Atlanta” was painted by local artist Deborah Whitehouse, and it depicts children playing in the fountains of Centennial Olympic Park. Airport authorities are in discussions regarding the future of the mural.
